Routine MV Stop Results in Arrest

4:55 p.m.: Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Bryan Scott charged the driver, a 21-year old Fair Lawn man, with possession of marijuana. The man was released on his own recognizance pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Jan. 25.

A Berkeley Place resident reported that someone attempted to remove the Santa lawn decoration from the front yard.  A Rock Road resident reported that someone rearranged their Christmas lawn decorations.  These were no witnesses.

Military Deserter Surrenders

5 p.m.: P.O. Mike Trover arrested a 24-year old Swansea , Ill. man who had turned himself in after being absent without leave from the United States Marine Corps since February 2007. According to police, the man was wanted on a full extradition warrant for military desertion. He was transported to Bergen County Jail pending extradition.

Resident Victim of Identity Theft

11:55 a.m., a Fairview Avenue resident reported that a fraudulent cell phone account had been opened in her account approximately a year ago. According to police, the account was closed with a $1,800 balance three months later. The victim is working with the security department of her cell phone carrier, who is investigating the matter.

Drugs, Jewelry and Cash Stolen During Alleged Burglary

4:35 p.m., an Iona Place resident reported a burglary and theft to the second floor apartment. According to police, the door was kicked open and oxycodone, jewelry and $450 cash were taken. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

Glen Rock Man Arrested for DWI

6:51 p.m., P.O. Mike Trover charged a 44-year-old Glen Rock man with driving while under the influence in a school zone and refusal to submit to a breath test. He was released in accordance with John’s Law pending a future appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

Christmas Decorations Tampered with

Dec. 21: At 3:51 p.m., a Wadsworth Road resident reported that someone had rearranged the positioning of two Christmas reindeer on the front lawn resulting in $50 worth of damage to the antlers.

Warrant Arrest

12:28 p.m.: P.O. Greg Carter arrested a 34-year-old Glen Rock man who was wanted for an $81 outstanding warrant issued by Prospect Park Municipal Court. The man was later released after being issued a new court date.

Man Driving Motor Home Arrested for D.W.I.

6:15 p.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Route 208 north, P.O. Greg Carter charged the driver, a 49-year-old Oakland man, with driving while under the influence, refusal to submit to a breath test, and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. According to police, the man who was driving a rented motor home was on his way home from the New York Giants game. He was released in accordance with John's Law pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Jan. 4.

Holiday Decorations Stolen or Damaged

Residents on Berkeley Place, Stonefield Road, Gramercy Place, Monmouth Road, and Rock Road reported the of theft or damage done to Holiday Decorations by an unidentified Grinch.  Although one resident claimed a group on juveniles was involved, no description of any value could be provided.  Several items were recovered by officers and returned.

5:12 p.m.: P.O. Greg Carter charged an 18-year-old Glen Rock man with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in Saddle River County Park . The man was processed and released pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Jan. 4.

Woman Arrested for Shoplifting Vodka

Dec. 16 at 6:02 p.m.: P.O. James McGill charged a 29-year-old Paterson woman with shoplifting two bottles of coconut vodka, valued at $68, from the Food Basics store on Lincoln Avenue . The woman was released on her own recognizance pending a first appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Dec. 21

Unsafe Street Sweeper Impounded

1:36 a.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 208, P.O. Greg Carter issued summonses to the operator of a street sweeper for driving an unregistered and unsafe vehicle and having no rear lights. The vehicle was impounded.

Intoxicated 18-year-old Charged Following Disturbance

2:47 a.m.: P.O. Michael Trover issued summonses to an 18-year-old Stony Point , N.Y. man for underage consumption of an alcoholic beverage and disturbing the peace after finding him slumped over a guard rail near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Rock Road . He was released to his father pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Jan. 4.

Man Arrested for DWI near Borough School

12:08 p.m.: P.O. Anna Marie Mattina charged a 48-year-old Ridgewood man with driving under the influence in a school zone, careless driving and driving with a suspended license and registration. According to police, the man was transported to Bergen Regional Medical Center for his own safety. He is due to appear in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Dec. 21.

11:20 p.m.: A resident reported that after he left a basketball game, he discovered that the rear window of his vehicle, which was parked in St. Catharine Church's parking lot, was shattered.

4:29 p.m.: A Tilghman Drive resident reported suspicious activity on their credit card with unauthorized purchases totaling $460. The bank was notified.

20 Year Old Man Arrested for Following MVA

3:45 a.m.: Following a one-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Somerset Court and Maple Avenue, P.O. Bryan Scott charged a 20-year-old Fair Lawn man with driving while under the influence in a school zone, careless driving and criminal mischief. The man was later released in accordance with John's Law pending a first appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Dec. 7

Woman Arresting for Lying to Officer

10:17 p.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Greg Carter charged a 46-year-old Fair Lawn woman with giving false information to a police officer. In addition, he determined that she was wanted for two outstanding warrants issued by Nutley and Saddle Brook municipal courts. The woman posted $695 bail and was released on her own recognizance pending a first appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Dec. 21.

3:54 p.m.: P.O. Robert Surdyka charged a 39-year-old Paterson man with shoplifting after the manager at Food Basics on Lincoln Avenue observed him secreting four bottles of Johnny Walker Black, valued at $127, in his clothing. In addition the man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Michael Trover charged the driver, a 21-year-old Glen Rock man, with driving while under the influence, refusal to submit to a breath test and careless driving. According to police, the man was transported to Bergen Regional Medical Center for his safety.

Nov. 25 at 12:22 a.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Greg Carter charged the driver, a 48-year-old Brooklyn , N.Y. man, with driving while under the influence. In addition he was issued summonses for careless driving and failure to keep right. The man was later released in accordance with John’s Law pending a first appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Nov. 30.

During the course of a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Lucas Doney determined that the driver, a 26-year old Hawthorne man, was wanted for an outstanding warrant issued by Ridgewood Municipal Court. In addition the man was given several motor vehicle summonses. He posted $88 bail and was released.

Parking Complaint Results in Arrest

While investigating an illegally parked car in the Food Basics lot, P.O. Bryan Scott determined that the owner, a 26-year old Hawthorne man, was wanted for two outstanding warrants issued by Westhampton and Glen Rock Municipal Courts. The man posted $420 bail and was released.

P.O. Murray Yang charged two Paterson women, ages 26 and 27, with shoplifting from Food Basics on Lincoln Avenue . The two women were released on their own recognizance pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Nov. 23.

During the course of a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Greg Carter determined that the driver, a 40-year-old Passaic man, was wanted for an outstanding warrant issued by Glen Rock Municipal Court. The man posted $89 bail and was released.

Silver Alert Locates Glen Rock Man

8:54 p.m.: A family member reported that an 86-year old Prospect Street resident was missing after leaving another relative's house in Washington Township. Police issued a missing persons broadcast and a silver alert was posted on local roadways. According to police, at 10:30 a.m. the following day, Connecticut State Police found the individual and his disabled vehicle in Andover , Conn. The man was brought to the hospital and his family was notified.

9:59 a.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Michael Trover charged the driver, a 27-year-old Pomona N.Y. man, with driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man was later released in accordance with John's Law pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Nov. 23.

GRHS Teacher Report Marijuana Found in Classroom

9:54 a.m.: Police received a report that a teacher at Glen Rock High School found a small amount of a greenish-brown leafy substance, believed to be marijuana, in a classroom and turned it in to the vice principal. Both the Detective Bureau and Glen Rock High School are conducting an internal investigation.

3:32 a.m.: Officer Robert Surdyka arrested a 27-year-old Little Ferry man on charges of driving while under the influence. The man was stopped by police for speeding and was arrested on the charges, in addition to careless driving. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was released under the provisions of John’s law pending a court appearance.

Routine Motor Vehicle Stop Results in Drug Arrest

3:34 p.m.: A 25-year-old Montclair man was stopped by Officer Michael Ciaramella for operating an unregistered vehicle, according to police. Police detected a strong odor of marijuana. The driver was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

Shoplifter Arrested at Food Basics

9:56 p.m.: Officer Murray Yang arrested a 31-year-old Paterson man on charges of shoplifting. According to a police report, an employee witnessed the man shoplifting four bottles of alcohol. The suspect posted bail on an outstanding warrant charge from Passaic County and was later released.

Hawthorne Man Arrested on Warrant & Drug Charges

4:10 p.m.: Officer Michael Ciaramella conducted a motor vehicle stop and discovered the driver, a 28-year-old Hawthorne man, had an outstanding warrant. During a search of the driver, the man was found to be in possession of marijuana, police said. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

Franklin Lakes Man Detained on Sheriff’s Civil Warrant

11:02 a.m.: Officer Michael Trover arrested a 58-year-old Franklin Lakes man on outstanding warrant charges stemming from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). Due to manpower issues, BCSO officers were unable to pick up the man, so he was released on his own recognizance and advised to go to the BCSO to handle the warrant, police said.

Aston Place Resident Reports Vandalism

12:10 p.m.: An Ashton Place resident reported that sometime earlier in the day an unknown party threw a pumpkin through their dining room window. The pumpkin broke a glass window, sending glass throughout the dining room. There were no witnesses or suspects.

6:10 p.m.: Officer Bryan Scott arrested a 33-year-old Hawthorne woman on outstanding warrant charges subsequent to a motor vehicle stop. Police discovered the woman had two warrants, one from Glen Rock for $89 and one from Clifton for $250. She posted bail and was released.

6:53 p.m.: Officer Adam Pyatak charged a 43-year-old Fair Lawn woman with driving under the influence in a school zone, refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. The suspect will be appearing in Glen Rock Municipal Court on the charges.

5:15 p.m.: Officer Annamarie Mattina arrested a 27-year-old Hackensack woman on outstanding warrants subsequent to a motor vehicle stop. Police discovered the woman had two warrants, one from Edgewater for $450 and one from Leonia for $400. Bail was posted and she was released.

Routine Motor Vehicle Stop Results in Arrest

12:18 p.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Lucas Doney determined that the driver, a 32-year-old Lodi woman, was wanted for an outstanding warrant issued by Glen Rock Municipal Court. In addition she was issued summonses for being an uninsured motorist and not having a valid registration, driver's license and insurance card. The woman posted $250 bail and was released.

Officer Assists Choking Teen

5:53 p.m.: P.O. Michael Trover responded to the 300 block of The Boulevard on a report of a 17-year-old female choking. According to police, he performed the Heimlich Maneuver and the item was dislodged. Members of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps evaluated the teen and she refused further treatment.

3 p.m.: A Concord Avenue resident reported that a blue and gold lawn decoration adorned with the house number was stolen. According to police, the item was valued at $75.

2:47 p.m.: A representative from T Mobile reported that someone cut the lock to the gate of the cell tower located at the Glen Rock Recycling Center and forcibly opened some communications boxes. According to police, nothing was removed.

Wanted Woman Turned Over to Paterson Police

10:30 a.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Lucas Doney determined that the driver, a 24-year old Montclair woman, was wanted for criminal warrants issued by Paterson and Pompton Lakes Municipal Courts. In addition she was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license. Unable to post $1,500 bail, the woman was turned over to Paterson police.

9:25 p.m.: A Delmar Avenue resident reported that unknown juveniles pulled plants from her front yard and threw them in the street. According to police, one of the potted plants hit a parked car causing $450 worth of damage to it. The plants were valued at $25.

8:38 p.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Cornwall Road , P.O. Bryan Scott charged the driver, an 18-year-old Glen Rock resident, with driving under the influence in a school zone, speeding and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. He was processed and released under the provisions of John's Law pending a first appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Oct. 19.

11:57 a.m.: A 12-year-old reported that he had put his backpack on the curb in the West Plaza Commuter Lot and it was taken by another juvenile in the area. According to police, a camcorder valued at $130 and a skateboard helmet valued at $40 were in the backpack.

Residential Burglary on Prospect Street

12:05 p.m.: A resident of the 500 block of Prospect Street reported that someone had forcibly opened the back door, rummaged through the house and removed jewelry and cash. The Detective Bureau and the Bergen County Sheriff's Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) responded to process the scene and are continuing their investigation.

Oct. 7 at 10:02 a.m.: A resident reported suspicious activity on her American Express credit card account. The Detective Bureau was notified and her credit card was cancelled.

Stolen Purse Recovered

8:06 a.m.: A wallet in a brown purse was found at the rear of the Prospect Street sewer pumping station. The owner was contacted and she told police that the items were reported stolen from Temple Israel in Ridgewood on Oct. 6. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau was notified.

Oct. 4 at 9:55 a.m.: P.O. Lucas Doney arrested a 54-year-old Hawthorne woman at her place of work who was wanted for an outstanding warrant issued by Saddle River Municipal Court. The woman posted $500 bail and was released.

10:08 a.m.: A Central Avenue resident reported that an unknown person entered the detached garage and removed two bicycles. One of the bicycles was valued at $1,900 and the other, $450.

Bias Graffiti Found in Wilde Park Bathrooms

9:34 p.m.: Police responding to a report of criminal mischief in the men's bathroom at Wilde Park found that someone had drawn two swastikas and obscene graffiti on the wall of a stall. A Bias Crime report was completed.  Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Glen Rock Police Detective Bureau at (201) 670-3947.

Glen Rock Man Arrested for DWI

8:48 p.m.: P.O. Scott McGovern charged a 66-year-old Glen Rock man with driving under the influence after receiving a report from Paramus police that the man allegedly left a diner and drove the wrong way down Route 17. The man's car was impounded in accordance with John's Law, and he was processed and later released pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Oct. 5. Sgt. Dan Dour assisted in the arrest.

Intoxicated Driver Rams Police Car

3:09 p.m.: P.O. Mike Trover made a motor vehicle stop at Lincoln Avenue and William Place . After running the license plate, he determined that the driver's license of the registered owner was suspended, according to police Capt. Jon Miller. The driver took off and turned on Manor Road before traveling down several side streets. The suspect struck Trover's patrol car and continued down to Lincoln Avenue where Officer Adam Pyatak got involved in the chase, Miller said. The man headed south on Lincoln Avenue where he swerved toward Detective Sgt. Eric Reamy and Detective James Calaski, according to Miller. The suspect drove down several more side streets and attempted to turn left when he was apprehended. The driver, a 60-year-old Fair Lawn man, was charged with resisting arrest, eluding police with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, open alcohol in a vehicle, failure to keep right, reckless driving and numerous other motor vehicle summonses. He was transported to Bergen Regional Medical Center for a blood test, processed and released pending a future appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

1:32 a.m.: A Belvidere Road resident reported that a male attempted to break into their car and then fled the scene. Police set up a perimeter around the area but were unable to locate the man. According to police, nothing was taken from the car.

2:03 p.m.: A Nottingham Road resident reported that sometime overnight someone had entered both unlocked vehicles and removed a GPS valued at $140 and $40 in currency and coins.

8:42 a.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Murray Yang determined that the driver, a 42-year-old Glen Rock man, was wanted for an outstanding no-bail civil contempt warrant issued by the Bergen County Sheriff's Department. The man was turned over to Bergen County Sheriff's Department officers.

Haledon Man Arrested and Held for Hawthorne Police

5:15 p.m.: P.O. Michael Trover arrested a 22-year old Haledon man who was wanted for three outstanding warrants, totaling $804, issued by Hawthorne and Prospect Park Municipal Courts. The man was unable to post bail and was turned over to Hawthorne police.

Two Arrested at Food Basics on Multiple Charges

4:13 p.m.: P.O. Lucas Doney charged two individuals with shoplifting after the manager of the Food Basics store on Lincoln Avenue reported that they allegedly fled the store with two bottles of Grey Goose vodka. According to police, in addition to the shoplifting charge, the 42-year Paterson woman was also charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution by providing a false name. Police also determined that the woman was wanted for warrants issued by Newark , Wayne, Paterson , Paramus and Parsippany Municipal Courts, totaling $7,391. The woman was unable to post bail and was turned over to Wayne police. Her companion, a 40-year old Paterson man, was charged with shoplifting and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Man Assaults Officer during Domestic Dispute

10:20 p.m.: P.O. Robert Surdyka charged a 46-year-old Glen Rock man with aggravated assault on a police officer, two counts of making terroristic threats and resisting arrest. According to police, there was an altercation between the man and the arresting officers resulting in a minor injury to one of the police officers. The man was unable to post $10,000 bail and was transferred to Bergen County Jail.

Man Arrested for DWI Following Two Hit & Runs

2:08 a.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Greg Carter charged the driver, a 28-year old Ohio resident, with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breath test. In addition, the man was issued numerous motor vehicle summonses. According to police, the man allegedly left the scene of two accidents — one on Ackerman Avenue and another on Rock Road — before crashing into a ditch on Grove Avenue. He was later released in accordance with John's Law pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on Oct. 19.

Borough Vehicles Damaged at Recycling Center

7:02 a.m., workers at the Recycling Center on Doremus Avenue reported that someone smashed the front windshields of five borough vehicles sometime the previous evening, resulting in thousands of dollars worth of damage according to police. Woman Arrested After Crashing into Two Parked Cars

5:04 p.m., P.O. Anna Marie Mattina charged a 48-year-old Glen Rock woman with driving while under the influence in a school zone, careless driving and failure to keep right following a motor vehicle accident on Chadwick Place at Tilghman Place . According to police, one vehicle traveling down Chadwick Place hit and totaled two parked vehicles. Emergency medical services were requested for the driver who was taken to The Valley Hospital for her injuries, said police. No court date has been set yet.

Trover also determined that the passenger was wanted for an outstanding warrant out of Fairfield Municipal Court. The woman posted $1,000 bail and was released on her own recognizance pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on July 27. The driver was later released after posting $1,000 bail pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on July 27.

Officer Apprehends 3 Juveniles Following Theft

1:32 a.m., a Food Basics employee reported seeing three juveniles remove items from the front walkway display. According to police, P.O. Michael Trover located the three males, two from Hawthorne and one from Paterson, on Diamond Bridge Road in Hawthorne, each allegedly carrying a 12-pack of Arizona Iced Tea. They were taken to police headquarters and later released to their parents.

Criminal Mischief Reported at Four Location

Residents reported of four separate incidents of criminal mischief. According to police, on Chadwick Place the mirror on a Ford Explorer was damaged, and 17 solar powered lights on Prospect Street , Woodvale Road , Gaynor Place and Andover Terrace were tossed into the street and damaged.  Although home at the time of the vandalism, none of the residents or their neighbors reported observing anyone damaging their property.

At 5:44 pm, P.O. Lucas Doney arrested a 43 year old South Orange woman and charged her with False Information to a Police Officer.  After a check of her history, it was determined that the woman was wanted by the Hudson County Sheriff's Department on a criminal warrant.  The woman was transported to Bergen County Jail to wait to be transferred to Hudson County.

At 12 pm, Det. Sgt. Eric Reamy arrested a 19 year old Fair Lawn man, after it was determined he had stolen a laptop computer on June 27th.  The man was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

At 4:13 pm, A man reported his 1996 Toyota S.U.V. had been stolen when it was parked in front of a house on Broad Street.  The vehicle was entered into the national stolen vehicle database.

At 12:30 pm, Detective James Calaski arrested a 26 year old Hopatcong man and charged him with six counts of False Public Alarm after he continually dialed 9-1-1 without a emergency to report.  The man was released pending a mandatory court appearance at Glen Rock Municipal Court.

Man Arrested After A Intense Investigation

At 1:30 pm, Det. Sgt. Eric Reamy arrested a 21 year old East Rutherford man and charged him with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, kidnapping, and aggravated assault, stemming from a home invasion which occurred earlier this year.  The man was unable to post the $250,000 bail and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.

Shoplifting

At 12:41 pm, a Prospect Street store manager reported a female party had entered the store and shoplifted approximately $60 worth of items from the store.  The manager was able to get a license plate which the female party fled in.  Detective Bureau was advised and investigating.

At 7:51 pm, P.O. James McGill responded to the Food Basics on Lincoln Ave on a report of a shoplifting that had just occurred.  The store manager stated that the actor hid two cans of baby formula under his jacket and walked out of the store.  Officers checked the area for the actor with negative results.  The Glen Rock Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating.

At 5:30 pm, P.O. Lucas Doney responded to the Food Basics on Lincoln Ave on a report of a shoplifting that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, P.O. Doney arrested two Paramus juveniles for attempting to shoplift a total of 6 bottles of alcohol from the store.  Both juveniles were released to their relatives pending juvenile complaints by P.O. Doney.

At 11:55 pm, a Jerome Ave resident reported a home invasion and robbery had just occurred.  The victim stated that 2 males forced their way into his home, assaulted him, and then fled after stealing money from his home.   Glen Rock officers and surrounding police departments searched the area for the actors with negative results.  The Bergen County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene Unit responded to assist in the collecting of evidence.  The Glen Rock Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating.

MV Stop Leads to D.W.I., Narcotics, and Warrant Arrests

At 6:09 pm, P.O. Greg Carter arrested a 26 year old Greenwood Lake NY woman while conducting a motor vehicle stop.  During the stop, the woman driver was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance as well as drug paraphernalia and was driving under the influence.  A 26 year old male passenger from Monroe NY, was also charged by P.O. Carter with possession of CDS.  The third party in the vehicle, a 25 year old male out of Monroe NY, was arrested by P.O. Scott McGovern for an outstanding warrant out of the Newark Municipal Court in the amount of $5,000.00.

The driver and passenger arrested by P.O. Carter were charged and released with a mandatory court date in the Glen Rock Municipal Court.  The third passenger was released with a new mandatory court date in the Newark Municipal Court.

Upon further investigation by the Glen Rock Police Department Detective Bureau, the actor was also charged by Det. Calaski with two additional counts of shoplifting for previous occasions in which the actor had stolen items from Bottle King.  The man was transported to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $4,500.00 bail.

At 2:00 am, officers were dispatched to a Lincoln Ave store on a report of a theft in progress.  Once on scene, P.O. Anna Mattina arrested a 43 year old Paterson man for attempting to steal several pallets of bound cardboard from the rear of the business.  The man was charged with theft of moveable property and released with a court date in the Glen Rock Municipal Court.  Upon further investigation by the Glen Rock Police Department Detective Bureau, Det. Calaski also charged the actor with receiving stolen property for other stolen pallets of cardboard that were found in the actors vehicle.

At 7:57 pm, Patrol Units were dispatched to a store on Prospect Street on a report of a shoplifting in progress.  Upon arrival, the actors had fled the store and the area in a unknown make or model vehicle.  A check of the area produced negative results.  Proceeds of the shoplifting totaled $37.  Detective Bureau was notified and is investigating.

Theft of a Bicycle

At 4:35 pm, a Glen Rock man reported his bicycle, valued at approximately $200 was stolen when it was left unlocked outside the Glen Rock Library.  The man stated he left it unattended for approximately 40 minutes while he went inside the library.

Man Arrested After Fight at Train Station

At 9:40 pm, Patrol Units responded to the Main Line Train Station on a report of a fight in progress.  Upon arrival, P.O. Annamarie Mattina, P.O. Matthew Stanislao and officers from the Ridgewood Police Department tended to victim, who suffered serious head injuries.  Sgt. Frank Riggio and other members of the Ridgewood Police Department took custody of the other party involved in the fight.  The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.  The other party, a 50 year old Hawthorne man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.  N.J. Transit Police Department, Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, and the Detective Bureau were notified and responded.  Bergen County Sheriff's Department, Crime Scene Unit responded to assist in the gathering of evidence.  The man who was charged, was unable to post $50,000 bail and was transported to Bergen County Jail to await his first court appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

Detective James Calaski charged a 39 year old Passaic man with fraudulent use of a credit card as well as credit card theft.  The man was charged following an investigation by the Glen Rock Police Department detective bureau.

MV Stop Leads to Narcotics Arrest

At 6:07 pm, P.O. Michael Trover arrested a 26 year old Highland Lakes resident while conducting a motor vehicle stop.  During the stop, the male driver was found to be in possession of heroin.  The man was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic syringe. The male was also issued several motor vehicle summonses.  The man was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

At 3:49 pm, Detective James Calaski charged a 35 year old Paterson man with theft of UPS packages and assuming a false identity.  The man was charged following an investigation by the Glen Rock Police Department detective bureau.

Michael Trover arrested a 49 year old Allendale man for driving while intoxicated.  During the investigation, the man was also found to be in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana.  The man was charged with possession of C.D.S. as well as D.W.I. and was issued several summons.  The man was released to a family member pending a mandatory court appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

At 11:22 am, P.O. Lucas Doney arrested a 58 year old Hawthorne man during the course of a motor vehicle stop, after it was determined that the man had an outstanding warrant out of the Haledon Municipal Court.  The man posted $368 bail and was released.

At 10:44 pm, P.O. Robert Surdyka arrested four 18 year old Glen Rock residents while checking a suspicious vehicle.  While speaking to the occupants of the vehicle, P.O. Surdyka found that they were all in possession of marijuana.  The four parties were charged with possession of C.D.S. and released pending a mandatory court appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

Motor Vehicle Accident Leads to D.W.I. Arrest

At 1:19 am, patrol units responded to the intersection of Maple Ave and Ferndale Ave on a report of a motor vehicle accident.  Upon arrival, patrol units found a single car motor vehicle accident in which the vehicle had struck a telephone pole.  The male driver was taken to Valley Hospital for treatment.  The man, a 25 year old Ridgewood resident, was subsequently arrested by P.O. Michael Trover and charged with driving while intoxicated.  The man's vehicle was impounded in accordance to John's Law and he was issued several summons.  The man was released at the hospital to a family member pending a mandatory court appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

Bryan Scott arrested a 22 year old North Haledon resident while conducting a motor vehicle stop.  During the stop, the male driver was found to be in possession of cocaine and heroin.  The man was charged with possession of C.D.S. and released pending a mandatory court appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

Numerous Thefts from  Motor Vehicles

At 4:09 am, P.O. Michael Trover discovered several vehicles in the area of Princeton Pl with their interior lights on.  After determining that the vehicles had just been entered, a perimeter was set up with the assistance of Sgt. Frank Riggio and P.O. Bryan Scott along with the Hawthorne and Ridgewood Police Departments.  A Bergen County Police K-9 unit assisted in searching the area for a suspect with negative results.  In total, 10 unlocked vehicles had been entered and 8 vehicles had items taken from them.  The Glen Rock Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating.  The Glen Rock Police Department would like to remind all residents to lock their vehicles when unattended.

Frank Riggio arrested the 21 year old passenger in the vehicle after it was determined that she had an outstanding warrant out of the Glen Rock Municipal Court.  Both woman posted bail on their warrants and were released.

Burglary Foiled By Alarm

At 7:52 pm, a Delmar Avenue resident reported that unknown person(s) were attempting to break into her home.  Officers arrived within minutes to find a rear door forced open.  A check of the area by patrol units from Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Fair Lawn, and the Bergen County K-9 unit turned out negative results.  Upon further investigation, the unknown person(s) were scared off by the audible burglar alarm from the home. The matter was turned over to the detective bureau for further investigation.

Rollover Leads to Arrest

At 11:49 am, patrol units responded to the intersection of Prospect Street and Ackerman Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle rollover.  Upon arrival, patrol units did find a vehicle resting on its roof, with a person trapped in the driver seat.  The man was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment.  The man, a 48 year old Glen Rock man, was subsequently arrested by P.O. Scott McGovern and charged with driving while intoxicated.  The man's vehicle was impounded in accordance to John's Law and he was issued several summons.  The man was released from the hospital to a family member pending a mandatory court appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

At 3:37 pm, during the course of a motor vehicle stop,  P.O. Greg Carter arrested a 20 year old woman and a 19 year old man, both from Paterson after it was discovered that the woman was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and the man was in control of a knife.  The woman was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and the man was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.  Both parties were released pending a mandatory court date.

At 7:20 pm, P.O. Annamarie Mattina, P.O. Murray Yang, and P.O. Michael Ciaramella responded to a home on Oxford Place on a report of a burglary in progress.  Upon arrival, officers found that unknown person(s) had entered the home through a unlocked basement window and removed jewelry and silverware.  It was also discovered that the vehicle belonging to the resident was missing.  Officers checked the area for the actor(s) and the vehicle with negative results.  Bergen County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene Unit responded to assist in collecting evidence.  Detective Bureau is currently investigating.

Juvenile Arrested for Drugs

At 2:46 pm, P.O. Greg Carter arrested a 17 year old New Milford juvenile subsequent to a motor vehicle stop after it was discovered that the juvenile was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.  She was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of drug manufacturing material used for distribution. The juvenile was released to the custody of her parents pending a mandatory court appearance.
