Home Invasion Alert – Teen Attacked

Glen Rock Police are actively searching for a man who entered a Berkley Place home through an unlocked door and attacked a 17 year old girl in her bedroom.  The male entered the home around 4:30 am on Sunday June 29th through an unlocked rear sliding glass door and then made his way to the 2nd floor bedroom where he entered the room of sleeping 17 year old female.  She awakened when she felt the man’s hand on her.  The male reportedly stated “don’t scream…. You don’t want your family to die”.  When she asked what he wanted, the man said, “I want you.”  The suspect then attempted to stuff a sock in her mouth but she was able to bite him and grabbed his hair and face before he punched her several times in the head.  The struggle ended up on the bedroom floor before the man ran down the stairs, through the kitchen and out the glass doors he came in through.  The suspect is described as a white male, approx 5’10” between 17 & 20 years of age.   Officers immediately called for a K-9 unit and set up a perimeter in the hopes of apprehending the suspect.  Surrounding towns were notified for extra surveillance.  Glen Rock detectives, along with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations crime scene unit and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office sex crimes unit were notified and responded to process the scene.

Any persons with information are asked to call the Glen Rock Police Detective Bureau at 201-670-3947 or e-mail Det. Eric Reamy at ereamy@glenrockpolice.com

Second Home Invasion reported to Police

Glen Rock police are investigating a possible second home invasion that reportedly occurred earlier the same evening as the first crime.  In this incident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m., the would-be assailant entered through an unlocked back door.  In this case the suspect made his way up to the second floor; opened one of the bedroom doors and inside there was a 16-year-old female.  The intruder was scared away — running back downstairs and out of the house — when he saw that the teen was still awake.  The girl’s father searched the house and noticed a door in the mudroom was open, but did not call police at the time.  When the family learned of the other crime from the news, they notified police.  Detectives along with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations crime scene unit processed to the scene.  No suspect description could be provided.
