CHANGES EFFECTIVE MARCH 30TH, 2009 DUE TO CONSTRUCTION AT THE GLEN ROCK MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS

Effective March 30, 2009 the Glen Rock Middle School parking lot will be closed in preparation for the new building construction.

TRAFFIC PATTERN FLOW CHANGE

Student Drop off and Pick up

The designated student drop-off/pick-up area will be relocated along Kirkwood Place, opposite the school tennis courts. Drivers need to be aware of several changes to that area as well, which are necessary to ensure student safety and a reasonable flow of traffic during arrival and dismissal times.
No parking is permitted, at any time, in the drop off zones.

In an effort to keep traffic flowing, NO LEFT TURN will be permitted onto Kirkwood Road from Radburn Road between 7AM and 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.  Drivers will need to approach Kirkwood Place from the Cornwall Road/Belvidere Road intersection.   Please plan your route accordingly.

Parking on Kirkwood Place will be moved to the residential side of the street. Drivers will form a queue along the tennis court side with student drop off and pick up anywhere along the right curb side. The center lane will remain open for through traffic and to allow staff members to enter and exit the Hamilton parking lot. There will be no public access to that lot or the Hamilton Circle during arrival and dismissal times.

No student drop off or pick up will be permitted on Harristown Road between Hamilton Ave and Thurston Ave, or on Hamilton Ave from Harristown Rd North for approx 45’.   These no drop off or pick up zones are posted.

In addition to the crossing guard at Harristown and Belmont and the police officer at Harristown and Hamilton, an additional police officer will be posted at Harristown and Radburn and the parking enforcement officer will be posted at Radburn and Kirkwood.

Parents are encouraged to drop off and pick up their children on Cornwall Road at George Road, Belmont and Emerson, Gramercy Place or Belvidere Road.

Please take some time and pre-plan your route, as we anticipate heavy congestion in that area.

PARKING

The teachers who had used that lot will be relocated to designated, on-street parking. The on-street parking will be by permit only, in areas designated by newly posted blue signs.

Borough Ordinance 150-12 states, in effect, that Middle and High School Staff members, or residents, residing in the areas named below, must possess & display a valid permit to park between the hours of 7:00AM and 3:30PM on any weekday that the Middle and High Schools are open.

Permit Only streets are:

Radburn Road – Both sides from Harristown to Cornwall

Kirkwood Road – North side of street from Radburn Road to Hamilton Ave.

Hamilton Ave – East side of street from Harristown Road to Emerson Road

Gramercy Place – East side of street from Harristown to Edgemont Road.

Residents who live in a permit only area and would like an on-street permit need only see the administrative aide in the Community School Office (Mon – Thurs. 8:30 AM to 2 PM) to have one issued.  No parking is reserved and is one a first come, first serve basis.

Two-hour parking during school hours will still be permitted along Belmont Road from Harristown Road to Emerson Road, with the first two spaces designated for handicapped parking. Students may park beyond the permit-only areas as space allows.

These parking regulations will be strictly enforced.
