Traffic
Officer Scott McGovern completed the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration 32 hour Child Passenger Safety Technician
Course given by AAA of Union. P.O.
McGovern is a Certified Car Seat Technician and can
assist parents and care givers with C.P.S. questions and child
restraint installations.
The
primary purpose of this program is to educated parents about
proper child restraint use.
The
best child restraint is the restraint that fits your vehicle,
fits your child, and is used correctly every time.
More than 80% of the child restraints on the road today
are being misused according to the national safety council.
Misuses
may include:
 | The
restraint not being installed into the vehicle correctly.
|
 | The
restraint harness or seat belt not being adjusted to
properly fit and protect the child.
|
 | The
restraint is not appropriate for the age and size of the
child.
|
 | The
child restraint is installed in the wrong seating position
in the vehicle.
|
Car seat checks are
done by appointment only.
The
installation/inspection
takes approximately 30-40 minutes per seat.
Parents should plan accordingly.
As indicated above, this program is educational by nature
and is not solely an installation service.
